Winter Break - Chemistry

During his winter break from school Patrick did many things that he doesn't often get to do. I try schedule a little something extra or fun for each day...or almost every day...that he is out of school on a break.

On this day he worked on a chemistry experiment where he would grow crystals in small cups.

By the time he was done he had three colors of crystals growing; yellow, blue, and green.

We used too much water (for a science experiment there were remarkably few measurements ("about 1/3" of this, "roughly 1/2" of that) to guide us) so after waiting for about a week I decided to boil off some of the water.

It's been a few days now and we're actually starting to see crystals form. If we get anything spectacular we'll be sure to take some pictures.
